Unlocking The Mystery To Smoother Skin

Dry, chapped, and rough skin doesn’t have to be your skin’s fate every time the cooler winter months roll around. Here is what you must do to ensure that you do have the smoothest and most touchable skin that you have always dreamed of:

Put a Stop to Sun Damage

The sun heats our earth, allows for our crops to grow and it gives us energy. The one drawback: the sun is our skin’s worst enemy. The penetrating UV rays of the sun cause a whole lot of damage to our skin, and can even cause cancer.

Here’s the good news: it doesn’t take a whole lot to prevent this damage from the sun. All you need to do is ensure that you are wearing sunscreen every day, whether it is summer or winter (yes, those UV rays sneak through the winter clouds and can still damage our skin, no matter what the weather!). Different skin types and tones may require different coverage amounts, however no one should be wearing any less than SPF 15 on their skin. The paler your skin is, the higher the SPF you should use. For instance, those with very fair skin should consider going beyond the SPF 30 and use a sunscreen with SPF 50 which can be found on most store shelves these days.

TIP: As an added precaution, making sure you are out of the sun between 10am and 4pm will do a lot to help protect your skin from the sun’s rays.

Be Healthy

Being healthy has a whole lot to do with the quality of our skin. If you eat properly, your body is receiving the nourishment that it needs, which means that your skin is receiving the proper nourishment that it needs. Exercising regularly and keeping your body at a healthy weight also goes a long way in helping keep your skin’s texture as best as it can be as it increases the blood flow to our skin. An increase in blood flow means that your skin is receiving these nutrients at a faster rate, so your skin is never left needing more.

It’s important that if you want to make your skin smoother you cut out the smoking and a large intake of alcohol. A glass of wine here or there isn’t going to do much harm to our skin, but drinking regularly or too much can cause the pores in our skin to become enlarged, and it can even cause a yellowing of the skin.

Keep it Clean

Keeping your skin clean will go a long way in keeping it smoother. Wash your face twice a day to get rid of ay grime and build up, though be sure that when you do wash your face that you are using a gentle cleansing product that is tailored to your skin type. Never scrub or rub at your skin, no matter how “dirty” or oily you may think it is. Pat your skin dry after it is cleansed, and then apply a much needed moisturizing cream or lotion.
